Watch how we celebrated the International Day of Women and Girls in science

INWES celebrated the International Day of Women and Girls in Science with a webinar on 11 February 2023. This is part of a joint project between INWES and the University of Warwick called “Empowering People’s Voices“.

Professor Georgia Kremmyda, INWES Vice President (Conferences), University of Warwick, UK, welcomed all the speakers and attendees.

Professor Jung Sun Kim, INWES President, Dongseo University, South Korea also welcomed everyone as the representative of INWES.

Dr Hyon-Ok Kim, Korea Aerospace Research Institute, South Korea, talked about STEM education for girls to promote their careers in Space and the She Space program, an unforgettable and life-changing experience.

Professor Anya Lin, TWiST President. Talked about Our C.H.O.I.C.E is STEM and how Twist is promoting STEM careers in Taiwan.

Dr Viviana Fanti, University and National Institute of Nuclear Physics, Cagliari, Italy, shared experiences from delivering physics masterclasses to girls in Cagliari since 2017. It’s about raising self-esteem with girls and boys as allies! The Experience of Physics Masterclasses in Cagliari from 2017 to the Present.

Dr Caroline Thoruwa, Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research, Kenyatta University, Kenya with the talk about AWSE- Empowering African Women in STEM told us how AWSE is looking at increasing the critical mass of women in #STEM! It’s a vision with multi-faceted inspirational activities says

Professor Francesca Ballarini, University and National Institute of Nuclear Physics, Pavia, Italy. She told us how Women’s Careers in Academia are in Italy.

Dr Katie Perry, Chief Executive Daphne Jackson Trust, UK. talked about Supporting Research Returners. The trust offers unrivalled support and mentoring to those people that want to return to research.
