Unesco Webinar/Hybrid Session: Empowering Women Scientists in Policy for Sustainable Development

Join the UNESCO thematic session on Friday, 17 July 2026 (9:30–10:45 AM CEST), live from Paris and online.

While women make up one-third of researchers globally, they remain significantly underrepresented in scientific leadership and policymaking. Organized by UNESCO and the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) under the International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development (2024–2033), this hybrid session aims to change the narrative.

Bringing together researchers, policymakers, and international partners, the session will:

  • Explore how women scientists can shape sustainable development agendas at local, national, and international levels.
  • Highlight insights from key initiatives, including the new UNESCO-OWSD GenSIS project.
  • Identify concrete actions to dismantle barriers, foster inclusive governance, and strengthen women’s leadership at the science-policy interface.

Format: Hybrid (UNESCO HQ, Paris Room VI / Online)
