67th annual Commission on the Status of Women (CSW67) Report

INWES were delighted to take part in the 67th annual Commission on the Status of Women (CSW67), the UN’s largest annual gathering on gender equality and women’s empowerment, which took place this year from 6 – 17 March under the theme, “Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls”.
Please take a look at the article, although it is late in being published.

Governments, civil society organizations, experts and activists from around the world united to face the challenges – and further the enormous potential – held by technology for the empowerment of all women and girls.

INWES, through their partnership with the University of Warwick and the Enhancing Research Culture project, were proud to be an advocate sponsor of CSW67. We hosted several virtual events during the two weeks, including presentations and discussions on a range of topics from the role of women in the digital era to looking at the gender barriers in science and engineering. There were opportunities to find out more about INWES through meeting our members in a series of online forums, and our regional network was represented by AWSE (African Women in Science and Engineering) who held a virtual event looking at the challenges and opportunities in achieving gender equality in digitization for the empowerment of rural women and girls.

We had 233 people register to attend these events, 146 attendees, and 8.9K YouTube views (Chair’s message for the 67th session of the Commission on the Status of Women to March 4).
