Mothers In Science – Survey

Mothers in Science is an international non-profit organisation registered in France (N˚ W343028090) founded by Isabel Torres and Sonal Bhadane in 2019. Our multinational team of nine professionals in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) is based around the world, including France, US, Canada, Singapore, Portugal, UK and New Zealand.

We are the only international organisation devoted exclusively to advocating for equity and inclusion of parents and people with caring responsibilities in STEM, with the ultimate goal of increasing the participation and retention of women in STEM careers.

We are conducting a research study aiming to 1) measure the impact of parenthood on the career progression of professionals and students in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine (STEMM) and 2) to begin identifying the specific career obstacles faced by people with children around the world.

WHY IS THIS RESEARCH IMPORTANT?
The data collected will be used for creating long-term solutions to advise the development of interventions and policies for increasing the retention of women in STEMM fields and ensuring that parents and people with caregiving responsibilities have equal opportunities for career advancement.

The survey results will also help raising awareness of the current challenges of combining work and family life in STEMM, particularly for women.
