This session is part of a British Council-funded project focused on creating safe spaces not only in higher education.
Through insights from project leads, academic institutions, and the lived experiences of young women, the webinar will highlight initiatives, challenges, and collaborative solutions aimed at lasting change.

Introductions from the project co-leads, including a brief overview of the purpose of the webinar and an acknowledgment of key partners: the British Council, the University of Warwick, and Kenyatta University.

10:10 AM – 10:20 AM
Prof. Georgia Kremmyda will provide a Project Overview, which includes an introduction to the two collaborative projects, their objectives, scope, and intended impact. She will also highlight key milestones and partnerships.
10:20 AM – 10:30 AM
Prof. Judith Waudo will speak on University Engagement, focusing on the role of academic institutions in promoting safe spaces. This segment will explore student involvement and university-based initiatives that support this mission.
10:30 AM – 10:40 AM
The session will feature Voices from the Ground, where young women and girls will share their lived experiences. This segment will highlight the impact of initiatives as well as challenges still faced. Speakers include:

10:40 AM – 10:50 AM
An interactive Q&A session moderated by Prof. Winifred Mutuku. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with the speakers and ask questions.
10:50 AM – 10:55 AM
To conclude the discussion, Prof. Georgia Kremmyda will present the Key Takeaways and Call to Action, summarizing the main messages from the webinar and offering ways for attendees to get involved or support the initiative.
10:55 AM – 11:00 AM
The webinar will close with final remarks from Prof. Georgia Kremmyda, bringing the session to a thoughtful and impactful conclusion.
