INWES Europe and NMITE invite you to a special event. Join us at the NMITE Skylon Campus in Hereford for what promises to be an event of inspiration and innovation.
“Equity and Collaboration: Shaping the Future of Science & Engineering in Europe”
The International Network of Women Engineers and Scientists (INWES) European Regional Network (INWES Europe), in partnership with NMITE (New Model Institute for Technology and Engineering), is convening a two-day regional unconference to bring together women in STEM and diversity allies from across Europe. This gathering will offer a platform for professional development, policy dialogue, and long-term visioning for the INWES European network, and indeed for INWES globally.
What is an Unconference? It is a loosely planned (or completely unplanned) event with an agenda led by delegates. We are, however, proposing an initial theme to help us get started. Delegates will be asked to participate to shape the event as we progress through the two days. If you want to initiate a discussion, tell us!
Hosted in the innovative educational setting of NMITE, an institutional member of INWES, this event features invited speakers including Itxaso Ariza, CTO of Tokamak Energy, UK; Professor Oleksandra Yeremenko, Kharkiv National University, Ukraine; Sara Edwards, SCULPT Solutions, UK; as well as key INWES senior members from the European Network, such as Monique Moutaud, a long time representative of INWES at UNESCO, Paris. Students from NMITE will also be bringing their views to the event.

- The role of INWES in Europe: Vision, Structure, and Action
- Regional Synergies, Partnerships and Allies for Women in STEM
- Youth empowerment in Europe: voices for the United Nations
Day 1: Setting a Vision – 9:30-17:00
In the morning, our speakers will provide questions and challenges to us all and delegates will set the agenda. Several parallel Roundtables in the afternoon will allow delegates to discuss the questions and topics in depth, and could include:
- The Future is Now: Youth Voices & Vision
- Leadership for Women in STEM
- It Takes a Village (of Nerds): The Power of STEAM Teamwork
- Equally Bold in Finance
- United Front: Women organisations in STEM
- Overcoming (geographical barriers): Where We’re Going, We Don’t Need Roads (or Borders)
- Diversity across communities: Our time. No fears. No lies.
We will continue the evening networking with an optional conference dinner in Hereford.
Day 2: Shaping the Future – 9:30-13:15
An opening virtual panel will share with us their views of the future. From there on, let’s all create a roadmap, set commitments and goals for INWES, INWES Europe and collaborators.
Followed by INWES Board Meeting in the afternoon or Tour of Hereford (13:15 – 17:00)
Observers will be welcome to the INWES Board Meeting to be held during the afternoon, where Directors and Committees will be reporting on recent activities and INWES planning for 2026. For delegates not wishing to attend the Board Meeting, there will be an informal tour of Hereford and/or NMITE Blackfriars Campus.
