FALLING WALLS LAB MONGOLIA’24 WINNERS ANNOUNCED

The Falling Walls Lab Mongolia’24 forum, which was successfully held on September 27 in a hybrid format, announced its winners, showcasing the innovative ideas and scientific works of young scientists, researchers, professionals, and young innovators to international scholars, investors, and businesspeople.

Each of the thirteen speakers who advanced to the final stage of this forum presented their new initiatives and proposals within three minutes. Their presentations included projects such as a space microscope, the development of food and bioproducts, a portable spectrometer, research linking consumer behavior with product sales, studies identifying reasons for unsuccessful startups, and initiatives for successfully implementing STEM programs. Additionally, speakers presented initiatives aimed at positively affecting climate change through waste recycling technologies, the arts, the development of recycled cashmere products, and technologies for purifying wastewater. All of these initiatives were focused on environmental improvements. These innovations emphasized the enhancement of human labor, fostering harmony between humans and the environment, emphasizing eco-friendly lifestyles, and aligning with sustainable development policies.

For instance, Erdenechimeg Odbat secured first place at the Falling Walls Lab Mongolia’24 forum with her research project “BIODEGRADABLE POLYMER,” becoming the national winner representing Mongolia at the Falling Walls Lab International Finale in Berlin this November, competing against over 100 national winners from around the world.
Dr. Altantuya Ochirkhuyag earned second place for her presentation on “SUSTAINABLE BIOPLASTICS,” while Bikram Baruti from India secured third place with his research on “MICROSCOPY IN SPACE.”

During the forum, participants highlighted environmental issues, but also viewed these challenges as opportunities. They proposed initiatives that could be turned into business ventures, an interesting theme of discussion.

Since the first Falling Walls Lab was held in Germany, which aimed to tear down the Berlin Wall, this forum has become an annual event regularly organized in over 100 countries worldwide.

The Falling Walls Lab Mongolia’24 forum was hosted by the Mongolian Foundation of Science and Technology and the German-Mongolian Institute for Resource & Technology (GMIT). It was organized by the Arts and Media Project Management and Consulting NGO (AMPMC) in collaboration with Mongolia’s Cultural Envoy to Germany, Mrs. Oyuntuya Oyunjargal, and GMIT. The event was officially supported by the Ministry of Economy and Development of Mongolia, along with the Mongolian National University, the International Network of Women Engineers and Scientists (INWES), and the Montsame Agency. Media partners included the Mongolia Press multimedia agency and the magazine “Energy Insight.”
