The event will include a presentation on the projects, including goals, the design of the surveys, interpretations of data, and a case study of dissemination activities in Africa. We will present the GISE Index – a measure of the potential to advance gender equity in STEM for regions and STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics & medicine) sectors.
This project has resulted in data that can be shared with collaborators and potential future partners. The lessons learnt in carrying out an international survey will be of interest to other activists and NGOs considering similar work for their sectors.
We will be opening the floor to questions, comments and expressions of interest to access the data and/or future collaborations. One of the outputs from the projects is the start of a community of people in Africa who wish to explore next steps beyond GISE. We will be encouraging participants to consider joining this community and perhaps considering similar communities elsewhere in the world.
