Looking toward 2026, what kind of world do we want to build?
Most of us envision a future that is more just, peaceful, and prosperous—a world free from hunger and poverty, where equality is the norm and everyone has the freedom to be themselves. I believe that by diversifying the voices within science and engineering, we move closer to that reality.
I invite you to reflect on our collective role—as women in STEM and as allies—in making gender equity in STEMM a reality. One powerful way to contribute is by joining or supporting INWES. Membership is more than an expression of commitment for your organization; it is an act of global solidarity. INWES exists not merely for the benefit of its members, but for the advancement of science and engineering as a whole.
ICWES20 and Beyond
We are currently gearing up for our flagship triennial conference, ICWES20, taking place in the Philippines this August (www.icwes20.com). This is a landmark event you won’t want to miss!
Beyond ICWES, we will continue to expand our impact through the regional networks APNN, ARN, MENA, Europe and the new Latin American network. We are expanding our impact through webinars, the GISE Index, and the Herstories project.
Take an Active Role
If you are ready to drive change, consider volunteering with global INWES. We are seeking committed activists to help shape our trajectory through 2026. Please visit our Volunteering page and complete the application form to get involved. In addition, calls for nominations to the Board will be coming out in early 2026, in readiness for the elections at our next AGM which will coincide with ICWES20.
Collaboration
Finally, I want to thank our partners and supporters. Our work remains firmly aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and we welcome new opportunities for collaboration. Together, let’s work towards a better world for all.
Here’s to building a better future worldwide through the full and effective participation of women and girls in all areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics and medicine!
