INWES – In official partnership with UNESCO
INWES is now an official NGO partner of the operational type with UNESCO.
INWES has now been officially admitted into operational relations with UNESCO by Mr. Koïchiro Matsuura, Director-General of the UNESCO on December 2007, and it has been officialised at the 179th session of the Executive Board of the UNESCO, in April 2008. This will create more linkages between INWES and UNESCO.

Creation of the INWES Education and Research Institute
Monique Frize, Claire Deschenes and Gail Mattson founded this organisation and INWES’ lawyer applied to Industry Canada to have this incorporated as a non-profit corporation. Following the incorporation, the lawyer applied for charity status in Canada. If this is successful, then INWES can apply in the USA for 501c(3) status. Projects to be run by the Institute will be of charitable nature such as scholarships, essay contest for high school students; collection of best practices for outreach to under-represented groups to consider education programs in science and engineering; and the development of a gender resource tool.
