Invitation to Join
The Science Agenda - Framework for Action, adopted by the World Conference on Science in the 21st C. (July 1999), identified in article 90 “… special efforts should be made…. to establish an international network of women scientists.”
In 1964, ICWES (International Conference of Women Engineers and Scientists) Continuing Committee had no address, no formal structure, no liability protection and a floating membership. But ICWES was a long-standing network of experienced women engineers and scientists on which to build an international association of women engineers and scientists.
To this end, the International Network of Women Engineers and Scientists (INWES) was initiated in 2001 in Merrickville, Canada and was launched at ICWES12, in Ottawa in July 2002. INWES was incorporated as a non-profit corporation in Canada in April, 2003.
So become a part of this global network and help to create a better future for all of us. Participate in world-wide discussions on good practices, on what works and doesn't, on how to widen the envelope of progress, and on how to increase the impact of women's voice in mainstream organisations. Mentoring, networking, sharing information at all levels will be central goals. This web site will offer useful information on current research on the issues, on programs and activities that lead to increasing participation of women, and many other services.
