INWES – ARN (Africa Regional Network)

History

The preparation Meeting had been held at the regional conference in New Delhi, India in 2012.

The Establishment of INWES Africa Regional Network (ARN) in 2014 was gingered and motivated by the concerns of INWES Board of Directors. Finally the INWES Africa Regional Network Steering Committee (ARNSC) was duly constituted on the 18th of May 2014, with representations from twelve (12) African countries to coordinate the activities of ARN. In a subsequent electronic meeting of the ARNSC, on June 15, 2014, ARN Sub-committees were constituted to include, Finance and Fundraising, Advocacy and Partnership, Web Portal and Communication and Program sub-Committees, to facilitate the smooth coordination and programs of ARN. Dr. Uduakobong A. Okon presented the Policy Framework of INWES Africa Regional Network and the terms of Reference for adoption. The countries represented in ARNSC included Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania, Algeria, Uganda, Mali, Cameroon, Kenya, Burkina Faso, Botswana.  Ghana and Liberia.

At ICWES16, 2014, the inaugural ARN meeting was proposed and held. On the 22nd of Oct, 2014. ARN was officially inaugurated by Kong Joo- Lee the INWES President, with Dr. Uduakobong A. Okon as the Pioneer President of ARN all members of ARNSC.

Next event:  INWES-Africa Regional Network (ARN) Conference on Sustainability and Innovations in STEM Developments at the University of Uyo, Nigeria.
